Lemont Dolphins Make A Difference
Lemont Dolphins Swim Team held a food drive to help those in the Lemont community.
LEMONT, IL —At their July 6 meet against Clarendon Hills, the Lemont Park District Dolphins Swim Team brought home a win, but they also worked together to support those in need in the community. According to a release from the park district, the Dolphins held a local food drive and collected dry goods to be used in the Hope and Friendship Summer Lunch Bag food collection program.
According to the release, this initiative directly benefits those students in Lemont whom usually get free or reduced rate lunches during the school year, but who do not receive that benefit during the summer months while school is not in session. Hope and Friendship, in cooperation with the Lemont Food Pantries, works to help households in need to feed their children lunch throughout the summer.
The park district said the Dolphins were ecstatic that they were able to gather so many food items during a short amount of time.
