Lemont Drama Club Performs Student-Written Play
Lemont High School's Drama Club will feature student-written personal scenes, poems and monologues as part of its winter play.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School’s Drama Club will feature student-written personal scenes, poems and monologues as part of its winter play. “Coffee Beans: Our Stories of Love, Life and Loss” will play on the Performing Arts Center stage from Feb. 1-3.
The school said “Coffee Beans” is set to run in the school’s Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. nightly. Tickets may be purchased at the door, and are $10 for adults and $7 for children, senior citizens and students with a valid school ID. Students, faculty and staff also may purchase tickets during lunch periods beginning Monday, Jan. 29.
“Coffee Beans” is a series of one act plays, vignettes and monologues written by students in English teacher Sean Clark’s Creative Writing class, as well as members of the Drama Club, the school said. The material featured in “Coffee Beans” details a variety of dilemmas and coming-of-age stories, including first and last loves, finding one’s place in life and overcoming personal battles.

“Coffee Beans” will be performed under the direction of Paula Smith, with Leslie Kane serving as the assistant director. Those planning to attend any performance of “Coffee Beans” may park in the school’s parking garage or in the lot outside the Performing Arts Center; both are accessible off of Julia Street.
There will also be the "GALLERY 306" art show, which will be open from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. each night before the play. The school said the show will be juried by Lemont alumni Nick Hayes ‘11 and D.J. Wohead ‘14. The show will spotlight a variety of outstanding work from Lemont High School students.
