Lemont High School Boys Soccer Team Heads To Sectional Final

The team will face Marmion Academy at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the final round of sectionals.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont High School boys soccer team has advanced to the final round of the Glenbard South Sectional after Tuesday's win against Sycamore.

Lemont defeated Sycamore 6-0 in the first round of sectional competition on Tuesday.

Next, the team will face Marmion Academy at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Glenbard South High School in the final round of sectionals.

"We are very excited to play for a sectional championship on Saturday," Head Coach Rick Prangen told Patch. "We know that Marmion Academy is an excellent team, and we will have to match their physicality and intensity. Our playoff philosophy is that we want to make sure that the last game we play is the best game we played this season."

According to LHS, Lemont is 14-3-7 this season, has posted 15 shutouts, and enters the sectional title match riding a 12-match unbeaten streak.

Tickets are $7 for Saturday's game and can be purchased in advance here. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate.

The winner of Saturday's game against Marmion will advance to the Sterling Super-Sectional, according to the IHSA website. The winner of the Glenbard South sectional will play against the winner of the Washington sectional on Nov. 1.

To advance into sectional competition, Lemont won against Glenbard South, 1-0, in the first round of regionals, and defeated St. Francis, 3-0, to become regional champions.

The Class 2A boys soccer state final tournament will be held in Hoffman Estates on Nov. 4-5.
