Lemont High School Has a Record 60 Seniors Named as Illinois State Scholars

A total of 60 Lemont High School seniors have been tabbed as Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). Nearly 19,000 students from across Illinois were honored with this prestigious award this year.

The 60 honorees are the most that Lemont High School has had in one year. The school’s previous record was 55 honorees in 2011.

Illinois State Scholars honorees represent approximately the top 10 percent of the state’s high school seniors, representing more than 650 public high schools. Selection is based on SAT or ACT scores and class rank at the end of the student’s junior year. High school guidance counselors work with ISAC to determine the winners.

Illinois State Scholar recognition does not include a monetary award, but winners may use the distinction on applications for college admission and scholarships.
