Lemont High School Honors October Students Of The Month

LEMONT, IL — Four Lemont High School students were honored with October Student of the Month accolades at the district’s board of education meeting Oct. 21. The October 2019 honorees are senior Alexia Psarros (Physical Education), junior Chloe Kwasigroch (Art), sophomore Kalli Tulipano (World Languages) and freshman Isabella Kedryna (Family & Consumer Sciences).

Each month, Lemont High School said it honors a student from each grade level for hard work and dedication to the school and the community. Selections rotate among the school’s various departments from month to month. Only 32 students earn Student of the Month each school year, with four individuals honored each month from October through May. Students may be selected for this honor only once in their careers at Lemont High School.

The district said local businessman Brad Grcevic, of Edward Jones, Inc., contributes a donation each month to a charity selected by the Student of the Month award winners. This month’s winners selected St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital to receive the donation.

Isabella Kedryna, freshman, Family & Consumer Sciences

Isabella Kedryna was selected as the freshman student of the month by the Family and Consumer
Sciences department. The school said Kedryna lists Integrated Math I Honors and biology as her favorite courses. Described as a conscientious student, she collaborates well with others while demonstrating kindness and attentiveness to her peers and teachers. Kedryna plays travel basketball and plans on playing for the school’s girls’ basketball team this winter. She also is a former gymnast and attends Polish School. Kedryna earned a 4.0 GPA as a middle schooler and was tabbed to the school’s Homecoming Court earlier this fall. Her short-term goal is to make the varsity basketball team as a freshman, and she hopes to maintain a high GPA through high school. She enjoys rock climbing, snowboarding, dirt biking and volunteering in her free time.

Kalli Tulipano, Sophomore, World Languages

The World Languages department tabbed Kalli Tulipano as the sophomore student of the month.
A high honor roll performer, Tulipano’s favorite subjects include science, English and French. She swims competitively for the West Swim Club, plays in the school’s Marching Band and Concert Band, and is a member of the Science Club. The school said her teachers note Tulipano is responsible, motivated and confident, and comes to school daily with an excitement for learning. She is a model student who sets a positive example for her peers, and her work ethic and focus have earned her a leadership role in the classroom. Tulipano hopes to pursue a career either as a zoologist or an ecologist. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, drawing and listening to music.

Chloe Kwasigroch, Junior, Art

Chloe Kwasigroch was cited as the junior student of the month by the art department. Kwasigroch is a high honor roll student whose favorite classes always involve art, though she also is enjoying
AP Psychology this fall. The school said Kwasigroch is a gymnast who not only competes with some of her classmates on behalf of the school, but also in the Illinois Park District Gymnastics Conference. She is an outstanding artist whose photography, drawings, and line work are detailed and intricate. Her work always is creative, as she pushes prompts to be personal and unique. She also is looked upon as a classroom leader as she collaborates with her peers. Kwasigroch hopes to study either art or film at New York University. She teaches gymnastics classes at the Lemont Park District and volunteers at the Museum of Science and Industry.

Alexia Psarros, Senior, Physical Education

The Physical Education department named Alexia Psarros as the senior student of the month. A
high honor roll student, Psarros most enjoys physical education and mathematics courses. Enrolled in two physical education classes this year, the school said her teachers applaud her for bringing a hard-working, helpful attitude to class daily. Her commitment to competitiveness in class activities is refreshing, and raises the bar for her peers while making participation better for all students involved. Outside the classroom, Psarros tutors other students, and she has had her artwork featured in one of the school’s art exhibitions. Psarros plans on attending college and majoring either in computer engineering or software engineering, and also could be involved in her father’s accounting business. In her free time, she serves as a dog sitter and enjoys video games and computer editing.
