LEMONT, IL — With support from Citgo and the Ocean Exploration Trust, Lemont High School’s Science Department will host STEAM Night from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4. The school said this event will feature several of the school’s academic departments and clubs, and organizers are seeking participation from the Lemont community and the surrounding areas. “STEAM Night” is intended for students of all ages and is free to attend.
This event, which has the theme “Conservation," will highlight the STEAM subject areas, including Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. According to the school, the program will begin with a short presentation from the Ocean Exploration Trust, a nonprofit organization that organizes exploration missions on the Exploration Vessel (E/V) Nautilus. Science teacher Erin Horan and mathematics teacher Julie Johnson each have had the opportunity to work on the E/V Nautilus.
The final hour of “STEAM Night” will feature various activities and demonstrations, the school said. In addition to the Science Department, the school’s Mathematics Department, Art Department and Career & Technical Education departments all will participate.
