Lemont High School Marching Band to Be Featured on CBS2 Morning Show

Tune in Tuesday, Sept. 30 to catch the band during the morning newscast.

Lemont High School’s award-winning marching band already has enjoyed its best competition season in years this fall, with two excellent finishes in as many weeks. However, its most wide-reaching performance soon will be seen by viewers throughout the Chicagoland area. Under the direction of Dave Nommensen and Matt Doherty, the marching band will featured on the CBS 2 Chicago Morning News on Tuesday, September 30.

Anchored by Kris Gutierrez and Erin Kennedy, the CBS 2 Chicago Morning News airs daily from 4:30-7 a.m. Lemont’s marching band is expected to be featured live from campus every half hour, beginning at 5:15 a.m. The segments not only will include live performances, but also brief interviews with selected members of the marching band.

The band started off the season by reaching the final round of a competition for the first time since 2007, doing so at the Lake Park Lancer Joust on September 13. A week later, the band took home top honors in Class AA at the Chicagoland Marching Festival in Wheeling on September 20. At that competition, the band also was awarded trophies for “Best Percussion Section” and “Best General Effect.”
