Lemont Historical Society Holds Walking Tours

Several walking tours of the downtown area and the canal/quarry area will be held in the upcoming months.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Historical Society will host several walking tours in the coming months. According to the society, all walking tours are $8 for adults and $3 for children, you can pay in cash or check only.

The next walking tour will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, and will start at 9 a.m. in the Heritage Quarries parking lot. The tour will be of the canal and quarry and will last about one hour and is 3/4 mile. You should RSVP by Aug. 9 at 630-257-2972.

The historical society will hold another walking tour on Saturday, Aug. 25. This time, the tour will be of downtown Lemont and will begin at 10 a.m. You should meet at the Lemont Historical Society Museum, 306 Lemont St. The tour will last an hour and is 3/4 mile. You should RSVP by Aug. 23.

According to the society, other tours will take place:

  • Saturday, Sept. 5: Canal/Quarry tour at 9 a.m. RSVP by Thursday, Sept. 13.
  • Saturday, Sept. 29: Downtown Lemont tour at 4 p.m. RSVP by Thursday, Sept. 27.
  • Saturday, Oct. 20: Downtown Lemont tour at 10 a.m. RSVP by Thursday, Oct. 18.
