Lemont Hornets First Team Honored

The first Lemont Hornets football players, cheerleaders and coaches were honored at the LHS game on Sept. 7.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Hornets recognized the 50th anniversary of the first football team and cheerleading squad at the LHS varsity football game on Sept. 7. 35 players and cheerleaders appeared on the Lemont Golden Hornets team roster, according to Terry Duffy who is helped organize the event, and also was a football player on the team.

Duffy was able to find several players, coaches and one cheerleader who attended the event. Sadly, some of the original roster have passed away.

The first team of the Hornets played in the fall of 1968. The organization hosted a reception before the LHS game and the team then walked out on the field and was recognized by the crowd.
