Lemont Hornets Recognize 50th Anniversary Of First Team

The reunion will be held Sept. 7 at the Lemont High School varsity football game.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Hornets will hold a team reunion for the 50th anniversary of the first Lemont Golden Hornets football team and cheerleading squad. The reunion will be held Sept. 7 at the Lemont High School varsity football game.

35 players and cheerleaders appeared on the roster, according to Terry Duffy who is helping to organize the event, and also was a football player on the team. Duffy said he's been able to find 27 people so far, and sadly some are now deceased, but he still needs to find several more.

The first team of the Hornets played in the fall of 1968. The organization will host the recognition reception at the LHS game, and that will be followed by a post-game social gathering. The former rostered players, coaches and cheerleaders in attendance will be recognized in front of the crowd.
