The Lemont Hornets youth football and cheer organization are ending a great 2015 season, sending two teams to the Bill George League Super Bowl and winning numerous cheer competitions. The 83 AFC (3rd and 4th graders) and the 103 NFC (6th grade) teams played their hearts out November 14–15 in two very close games, coming in second place in the league.
Keith Polk, Head coach for the 83 team said, “We are so proud of the boys who gave such dedication and worked hard all season. We know they will carry this winning spirit forward to touch many aspects of their lives. I look forward to building on this experience with this team in future years.”

The 103 team head coach Elliot Kaye had similar sentiment. “There was no expectation at the beginning of the year that our team would make it to the Superbowl. Our boys impressed us week after week and never gave up. Especially in the Superbowl game where we were behind the entire game; yet, the boys fought until the end, tying the game and sending it to overtime. While we didn’t win the game, our boys exemplified character, spirit, and a winning attitude. I think the greatest part of the year is stepping back at the last practice and seeing how much better each and every player got this year.”
Additionally, this was a great year for our Lemont Hornets Cheer & Dance squads.

“This season our squad’s scores were higher than in past years in both cheer and dance,” said
Bridget Bishop, the Hornet Cheer Director. “All squads placed in top 2 for dance, placed 1st and/or 2nd in cheer and received bids to State. We are proud of our Hornet cheerleaders and all they’ve accomplished.”
Jason Nash, the Lemont Hornet President summarized what the organization is all about. “When it comes to youth sports, we are dedicated to building the skills, character, and team spirit in our young athletes. I appreciate all the parents who put so much time and effort into the experience for the kids. The dedication of the parents volunteering their time, giving to the organization, and giving back to the community sets a great example for children and the community as a whole.”
About The Lemont Hornets
The Lemont Hornets is a non-profit organization, run entirely by parent volunteers, and is funded by registration fees, donations and fundraisers. Our players and cheerleaders are from Lemont and surrounding areas. The Hornets Organization focuses on teaching children the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, good sportmanship, respect, coordination, competitiveness, and to promote physical fitness. We also emphasize teamwork & discipline throughout the various divisions of the league, with our long term goal being to prepare our players and cheerleaders for the high school level. Lemont Hornets Cheer is a recreational program that accepts all who want to join. No Tryouts. We are very proud to say that even though we do not have tryouts we are still a competitive program. Our program is one of the only programs that does both cheer and dance. Every year at competitions we place in the top 4 in dance and win an IRCA Bid to State at all levels.
