Lemont Junior Woman's Club Offers Self-Defense Class, Mini Photoshoot

Two community events are on tap for the club in March.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Junior Woman's Club will host two community events next month, including a free self-defense class and a unicorn mini photoshoot.

The unicorn mini photoshoot will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on March 11 at the Legacy Ranch, the club said. It is $150 for five digital images, and the $150 is given to the Legacy Ranch in Lockport, to help provide scholarships for participants in need of therapeutic services.

The Legacy Ranch offers therapeutic riding lessons, equine-assisted therapy, hippotherapy, and group programs.

The Club will also host its annual Anne Swaney self-defense class at the Lemont CORE from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on March 14. The class is held in Swaney's memory and is available for anyone ages 16 and older (must have parent with them if under 18).

Swaney was a "close friend" to the club, organizers said. Swaney, an ABC7 producer, was murdered in 2016 while on a trip to Belize; her murder remains unsolved. The Legacy Ranch was also inspired, in part, by Swaney.
