Lemont Library Documents History During Coronavirus
Once the crisis is resolved, the library said residents will be invited to bring in their journals, photos, drawings, letters and scrapbooks
LEMONT, IL — If you'd like to play a part in documenting Lemont history, now is your chance. The Lemont Public Library District is inviting community members to document history through writing, art and more during the coronavirus pandemic and then to donate those items to the library.
Once the crisis is resolved, the library said residents will be invited to bring in their journals, photos, drawings, letters, scrapbooks and other physical documents that tell the story of life in Lemont during this quarantine.
"I got the idea from other libraries that are doing something similar to tell their community's story of life during the quarantine," Children's Services Manager Rachel Snyder told Patch.

Snyder said the public will be able to access the materials once all are collected and organized. The library is still deciding how these materials will be accessed, but they will be available for the public to look at and experience.
The library asks that items be no larger than 11 by 17 inches and can be stored flat. For more information on the project, email rsnyder@lemontlibrary.org.
