Lemont, Lockport, Romeoville And CITGO Firefighters Team Up For Fundraiser

Several local fire departments are teaming up for Fill The Boot, an annual fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Fire Protection District, Lockport Fire Protection District, Romeoville Fire Department and CITGO Lemont Refinery Fire Department will join the Muscular Dystrophy Association for the Fill The Boot annual fundraiser. Fill The Boot helps free kids and adults from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that severely weaken muscle strength and mobility, according to a release. Firefighters will have their boots in hand at several locations and will collect for the fundraiser.

  • 127th and State Street, in Lemont, from 3 to 6 p.m., Sept. 8
  • Ninth and State Street, in Lockport, from 3 to 6 p.m., Sept. 7
  • 135th and Weber Road, in Romeoville, from 3 to 6 p.m., Sept. 8
  • 135th and New Avenue, in Romeoville, from 3 to 6 p.m., Sept. 8

According to a release, funds raised through 2017 Fill the Boot drives empower families with life-enhancing resources and support, including state-of-the-art support groups and Care Centers, including the MDA Care Center at Lurie Children’s Hospital, Rush University Medical Center, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, and Northwestern Hospital in Chicago.

They also help give more than 90 local kids the opportunity to experience a week at MDA summer camp at no cost to their families at Timber Pointe Outdoor Center.
