Lemont Looks To Sell Route 83, Main Site To Developer
Construction on this site is expected in summer 2020 at the earliest.
LEMONT, IL — Lemont is looking to develop its 16-acre site on the northeast site of town near Route 83 and Main Street. The village shared a FAQ on its website about the development of the village-owned site.
The project will be discussed at a committee of the whole meeting Nov. 12. According to the village, the current proposal for the site includes a mix of uses like a fuel station and convenience store, retail outlets and a light industrial space.
In May, the village entered into a development services agreement with Bluestone Single Tenant Properties. The village said Bluestone is offering $2.7 million for the site. Although the village has spent approximately $7.5 million into the site, the village said it has an opportunity to recoup costs through real estate, sales tax and other revenues.
