LEMONT, IL — The Lemont OfficeMax will be one of 50 stores that Office Depot, which owns OfficeMax, is closing. The Lemont store, located at 13406 Archer Ave., is already holding end of business liquidation sales.

According to Business Insider, the other Illinois closure is an Office Depot in Niles. Office Depot said first quarter sales for 2019 fell 2 percent compared to last year, which led to the closing of underperforming stores.

“Our first quarter results were disappointing driven primarily by poor performance at our CompuCom division,” Gerry Smith, chief executive officer of Office Depot said in a release. “We are taking decisive actions and making numerous improvements in our sales and operational processes to place this business back on-target with its long-term expectations.
