Lemont Officers Recognized For Saving Man's Life

The family wanted to recognize the officers and also purchased electrode pads for the department.

LEMONT, IL — A Lemont family recently recognized several officers who were able to save resident Brett Kostes' life in June. Kostes suffered a heart attack on June 5, and Lemont Police officers were able to save his life by giving CPR and using a portable AED.

Officers Jason Boyer and John Lauricella were first on the scene and the Kostes family thanked them for their service. Kostes' wife Sharon said all of the officers and first responders were amazing, including the 911 dispatcher who helped count for her as she performed CPR before officers arrived.

Sharon said the officers arrived within three minutes of her calling 911, and doctors told her that helped to save her husband's life.

To thank the department, the family purchased several electrode pads for the police department. The pads will be used as replacement pads for the AEDs the department has.
