LEMONT, IL — One of Lemont's newest residents decided to come into the world more quickly than expected, giving Lemont paramedics quite a surprise. Theodore Jannotta was born Nov. 24, and he was delivered by Lemont paramedics in an ambulance right outside Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, said his mother, Lindsay.

Lindsay said Theodore is her third child, "so I thought when the time came, I would know what to do."

Lindsay woke up at 7 a.m. Nov. 24, and Theodore was born two hours later at 9:01 a.m.

"By the time I got out of the shower that morning, I was in so much pain and knew he was coming soon," Lindsay said. She and her husband were waiting for Grandma to come and babysit their other two children when Lindsay took matters into her own hands.

Lindsay called 911, and said she "screamed out our address and gave the phone to my husband, who told them, 'She's fine, it's no big deal!'"

Lindsay said the paramedics arrived quickly and they made it to Good Samaritan Hospital, but Theodore was born in the parking lot, in the hospital's ambulance bay.

"He couldn't wait!" Lindsay said.

Lindsay said the paramedics who delivered Theodore visited the family recently and gave them a blue baby blanket with the fire department logo on it. The firefighters asked if they could put Theodore's name in the new ambulance and told her the department hadn't delivered a baby in an ambulance in at least 20 years.
