Lemont Park District Day Campers Harvest Food For Food Pantry

LEMONT, IL — This year's Lemont Park District Day Camp participants helped to make a difference in the community by adopting a garden plot. The group adopted a plot for growing vegetables earlier this summer at the Lemont Township Community Garden as part of i Grow Lemont, the park district said.

On Aug. 1, the campers harvested a variety of fresh vegetables. All of the vegetables were donated to the Lemont Food Pantry and will be distributed to local families. The park district said the day campers also learned about gardening and how we can serve the community.

The harvesting was a partnership between the Lemont Park District, Lemont Township, i Grow Lemont and the Lemont Food Pantry.
