Lemont Park District Plans Freedom Days 2023

The event series includes a pool party, veterans tribute, kite fly, open house at the CORE, and more.

LEMONT, IL — In the lead-up to the Independence Day Extravaganza, the Lemont Park District will hold several events as part of Freedom Days 2023.

The event series kicks off on June 26 with a kite fly at Centennial Park from 6 to 8 p.m. Guests can bring their own kite for the free event.

Then, on June 27, "Top Gun: Maverick" will be shown at Covington North Park at 7 p.m.

The park district will hold a Veterans Tribute on June 29, with brats and beer at Legion Park, 111 Main St., at 6 p.m. The tribute is free for active and retired military. Participants must register in advance.

On June 30, "Free to Be Fit Friday" includes an open house at the CORE facility all day. July 2 features the All-American Swim, a free pool party at Centennial Pool, from noon to 6 p.m.

Then, the Independence Day Extravaganza will kick off at 4 p.m. at Centennial Park on July 3. The extravaganza will feature a DJ, beer booth, kid's zone, food vendors, live entertainment, and fireworks will end the night at 9:30 p.m.
