Lemont Park District Welcomes New Commissioner

LEMONT, IL —This past May, Commissioner Peter Korbakes bid farewell to the Lemont Park District after a 6-year term. The park district said Korbakes was initially elected to the Board of Commissioners in April 2013.

He worked on key projects such as the restructuring of the Centennial Campus Parkway and the revitalization of nine great parks including the new Northview Park and Mayfair Park development. Korbakes also served as board treasurer from February 2016 until the end of this term.

“The Lemont Park District Staff would like to extend much gratitude to Commissioner Korbakes for his hard work and interest in the community of Lemont. We wish him all the best,” said Executive Director Louise Egofske.

“We are grateful to Commissioner Korbakes for all his hard work and dedication to the Lemont
Park District and he will truly be missed,”said Board President Brian Pepich. “Looking ahead we are pleased that another Lemont resident will have the opportunity to serve as a member on the
Lemont Park District Board of Commissioner. It is truly a very rewarding experience to see when
a positive difference is made and embraced by the community."

The Lemont Park Board of Commissioners newest board member member is Michael Scarlati. The park district said Scarlati was elected during the last election and sworn in as a Lemont Park District Commissioner at the monthly board meeting on May 14.

"I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to serve my community in this capacity. It is an
exciting time and I am looking forward to embracing the new challenge,” said Scarlati.

“We are pleased to welcome Commissioner Scarlati to our team! As a long-time Lemont
Resident of over 25 years and also a very active participant at the Lemont Park District, he will
bring a new perspective to the table. His professional experience, passion for the industry and
commitment to the community makes Mike the perfect person for the job,” said Pepich.
