Lemont Police Department Seeks Traffic Safety Officers

The Lemont Police Department is seeking applicants for the role of Traffic Safety Officer.

As a Traffic Safety Officer (TSO) you will be responsible for setting up, managing and removing temporary traffic control schemes. The job requires regular physical manual effort. You will be required to stand for 8 to10 hours per day, regardless of weather conditions.

You must be able to operate in a team environment and assist all team members in the performance of their duties. As a TSO you will work closely with co-workers to ensure the safe management of work zones or events for all of the Village of Lemont. This is an on-call position and the hours you will work may vary from day to day, and season to season. Work may occur on any day or at any time of the day or night and may also require emergency response calls.

Village of Lemont requires all staff to present for duty in a fit and proper state a minimum of fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start of each shift.

Qualifications

· Must be at least 18 years old

· Must have a valid manual drivers license with NO major infringements i.e. dangerous driving, or excess BAC(Blood Alcohol Concentration)

· Must be able to pass background checks

· Must be able to follow and comprehend road traffic diagrams, regulations and instructions.

· Must demonstrate an ability to clearly communicate, by radio, and in person.

· Must be able to lift 15-50lbs

· Must be able to work up to 20 hours per week.
