Lemont Police Warn of Ongoing IRS Phone Scam
Residents should not follow the caller's instructions.

The Village of Lemont is still experiencing a high number of attempted IRS phone scams, according to an alert issued Wednesday.
The callers identify themselves as agents of the lRS. The callers instruct the residents to purchase Green Dot cards, Money Pakcars, and other pre-paid cards which can be transferred into the scammers’ accounts.
Police warn that the callers are posing as agents, and appear to be targeting senior citizens. Anyone who receives a call should hang up, and visit this website. Click on the Impersonation Scam reporting link; a task force will handle your report.
