Lemont Police Warn of Ongoing Phone Scam
Residents should not follow the caller's instructions.

Lemont police are asking residents to be aware of ongoing instances of a phone scam occurring locally.
Residents are still reporting attempts in which callers request them to purchase green dot cards or make other monetary transactions into unknown accounts to settle issues from the IRS, cable company, Com Ed, or Publishers Clearing House.
The scammers target people throughout the United States and the U.S. Treasury Inspector General has e website to handle the issues. Call 800-366-4484 to report an instance, or visit the website for more information.
