Lemont Quarryman Road Race a Record-breaking Hit

A record number of runners registered for the 10th annual race Saturday, May 9—with a new record set for the 10-Mile.

A record 810 people signed up to run Lemont’s Quarryman Challenge 10-Mile and 5K race Saturday, May 9—but the impressive stats don’t stop there.

Nearly 700 runners from nine different states and four foreign countries (Canada, Germany, Lithuania and Poland) took to Lemont’s hills for the 10th annual running.

Austin Hendrix, 25, cruised through the 10-mile in a record-setting 52 minutes and 59 seconds, for first place. Former record holder Nick Hird placed second at 54:38, while three-time champion Emisael Favala took second with a time of 54:51.

Amber White won the women’s race in 1:02:14 to claim her second win at the QM. Aneta Ziemianska took 2nd (1:07:38) while Annabelle Winters captured 3rd overall (1:09:18) female.

Rob Chenoweth won the Male Masters (40+) with a time of 59:19. Anna Dennier won the Female Masters with a 1:11:34 time.

“The 10-mile race was super-fast, with the top 17 overall going under an hour and many other runners close to the 1-hour mark,” organizers said.
