Abe Lincoln to throw out first pitch.

—Submitted by the Lemont Historical Society

Summer may be winding down but the fun’s not over! The Lemont Quarrymen Vintage Baseball Club will take on the Springfield Long Nines in the final home game of the season on Saturday, August 22, noon at Mt. Assisi Field, 13900 Main Street. Honest Abe Lincoln will throw out the first pitch.

If you haven’t had an opportunity yet to see a Quarrymen match, come out and see baseball as it was played in 1858, with vintage uniforms, equipment and rules. Free admission and plenty of parking. Club sponsor, Lemont Historical Society, will be providing hot dogs, peanuts and cracker jack for the spectators.
