Lemont Raises Flag For Illinois' 200th Birthday

Across the state, towns will be participating in the Illinois Bicentennial Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, Dec. 4.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont will join in on Illinois' 200th birthday celebration on Dec. 3. Across the state, towns will be participating in the Illinois Bicentennial Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, Dec. 4. The village of Lemont will raise the flag at noon at the village hall.

The village said residents are encouraged to come to the event and celebrate Illinois' birthday. The Flag Raising Ceremony marks the beginning of a yearlong celebration to pay tribute to the people, places, and things that are being "born, built and grown" here every single day.

The "Born, Built and Grown" campaign is aimed to honor the tremendous people, places and things that make Illinois so enduringly strong, kind, and beautiful, according to the release.
