Lemont’s FBLA Chapter Qualifies For State Competition In 19 Events
The Chapter will head to the 2023 FBLA State Leadership Conference in April in Springfield.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America placed among the top three in all 19 of its events at the Central Northern Area Conference regional, which was hosted by Illinois Math and Science Academy in January, the school shared in a news release.
The top three finishers in each event earned the opportunity to participate at the 2023 FBLA State Leadership Conference, which will be held on April 14-15 in Springfield.
The school said Lemont students placed first in six team competitions and seven individual events. Seniors Sebastian DelaTorre and Mahmoud Yacoub won Business Financial Plan; seniors Jack Madera and Marek Skotnicki were victorious in Data Analysis; juniors Mallory Corse and Adyson DuVall triumphed in Business Ethics; juniors Ethan Bator, Danny Drobnic and Krystian Kozieja teamed to win Computer Game and Simulation Programming; sophomores Anicka Herout and Amad Yaagoub combined to win Intro to Social Media Strategies; and sophomores Russell Daniloff and Ali Nabulsi teamed to win Sales Presentation.

Individual winners included seniors Jacob Heusuk (Cyber Security), Julia Janowski (Digital Animation), Lauren Meyer (Business Financial Plan) and Ryan Schmidt (Graphic Design); junior Natalia Zagata (Publication Design); sophomore Vikram Oberai (Mobile Application Development); and freshman Joey Fiore (Digital Video Production).
According to LHS, juniors Angelina Aleksandravicius and Nathan Kunickis placed second in Business Management, while sophomores Sofia Kuziel and Lavya Suri finished as the runner-up in Social Media Strategies. Sophomore Lee Catalano (Public Speaking) and freshman Nina Risatti (Intro to Business Communication) placed second in their respective events, while senior Dominic Auriemma (Marketing) and freshman Samuel Scoville (Entrepreneurship) were third in theirs.

Lemont’s FBLA chapter won at least one event state title in nine of 11 competitions from 2010-21, and has captured multiple championships seven times, including a school-record five state titles in both 2011 and 2016, the school said.
