Lemont Softball Heads To IHSA Class 3A Championship Game

LHS will face Antioch in the state championship at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School's softball team is headed to the IHSA Class 3A state championship after a semifinal win against Benet Academy on Friday.

Lemont defeated Benet 10-0. LHS will face Antioch in the state championship at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria.

In the semifinal game, Sage Mardjetko struck out 13 in a two-hit shutout, while Lemont racked up 15 hits. Olivia Parent (four hits), Raegan Duncan (three hits), Maya Hollendoner, Natalie Pacyga and Frankie Rita (all with two hits) picked up multi-hit games, while Avaree Taylor added an RBI triple, LHS shared on its Facebook.

Both Lemont and Antioch have records of 34-1, according to LHS.

Lemont is looking to retain its state championship crown, as it won the 2022 Class 3A softball state championship against St. Ignatius. Last year, the softball program was the fourth LHS athletic program to win a team state championship, joining the baseball, cheerleading and wrestling programs.
