Lemont Staff Member Bob Maciulis Tabbed to Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame
Bob Maciulis was honored for his work as an outdoor journalist.

Lemont High School staff member Bob Maciulis is one of 18 honorees who comprise the 2015 induction class for
the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame. Maciulis, who serves as a paraeducator within Lemont High School’s ‘academy’ program, is one of the Midwest’s preeminent voices in the outdoor recreational community, and is being honored for his contribution, dedication and service to the fresh water sportfishing industry.
Maciulis has served in several roles at Lemont High School since 2008, but it is his 40-year career as an outdoor journalist that earned him his Hall of Fame nod. Since 1976, Maciulis has written outdoor columns for the Joliet Herald News, Southtown Star, and various daily newspapers owned by the Chicago Sun-Times. The Illinois Editor of Midwest Outdoors from 1975-79, his articles have been published in Gray’s Sporting Journal, Federation of Fly Fishers, Illinois Game and Fish, and the Badger Sportsman.
For more than three decades, Maciulis has produced and hosted the “Outdoor Notebook” radio show in the Chicagoland area. At 32 years of continuous broadcasts, this weekly program is the longest running outdoor radio show. Maciulis also produced the “Outdoor Notebook” television show that aired in the Chicagoland market.

Maciulis is the publisher of the Outdoor Notebook Magazine, which covers the Chicagoland area, northeastern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, northwestern Indiana and southwest Michigan. This monthly magazine is in its 33rd year and is Chicagoland’s most widely read monthly regional publication.
Maciulis will be inducted formally at a ceremony early in 2015.

Headquartered in Hayward, Wis., the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame is the international headquarters for education, recognition and promotion of fresh water sportfishing. Each year, it recognizes individuals, groups and organizations that have had a significant positive impact on fresh water angling. Individuals and organizations alike are honored
for outstanding achievements and/or career success and innovation in competition, invention, science, education, conservation, communications, technology, or other areas related to fresh water sportfishing.
The Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame museum is located on a seven-acre complex in Hayward, and features the artifacts, heritage and history of fresh water sportfishing. The Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame also qualifies and recognizes fresh water’s sportfishing world records.
