Lemont Swears In 3 New Police Officers

LEMONT, IL — Three new police officers were sworn in at Monday's Village Board meeting.

Officers James Solorio, Nicholas Rankovich, Joel Donovan were sworn in, bringing the total full-time sworn officers for the department to 24.

Solorio is a previously certified police officer who worked for the East Chicago Police Department and the Country Club Hills Police Department, the police department said. He is a graduate of Lewis University, and has started the field training process and been assigned to a Field Training Officer.

Rankovich is also a previously certified police officer, who has worked with the St. Charles, Steger and Will County Sheriff's departments on a part-time basis, the department said. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, and has also started the field training process and been assigned to a Field Training Officer.

Donovan, a graduate of Ball State University, recently started his career in law enforcement at the Chicago Police Metro Academy, the department said. He will spend the next 14 weeks learning the basic aspects of law enforcement such as defensive tactics, criminal law, and citizen interaction. After those 14 weeks, he will return to the Lemont Police Department, where he will begin a 12-week field training program.
