Lemont Township Plans $750K Addition To Community Center
The addition will cost $750,000, and the township said the project won't require additional tax revenue from residents.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont Township will soon break ground on an 1,800-square-foot addition to its community center. The Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St., was built in 2010 and was incorporated into the 58-acre site that is the Lemont Township Heritage Woodland Sanctuary.
The township currently has its main offices at the former Witkowski Center, 1115 Warner Ave., but offices will move over to the addition when it's complete.
Lemont Township Supervisor Steven Rosendahl said the township board has been planning on this consolidation and has been putting money aside for this project for the past nine years.

The addition will cost $750,000, Rosendahl said. The project is fully funded and won't require any additional tax revenue.
"This expansion was designed with the original building plan, we just didn't build it at the time," Rosendahl said.

The addition will be built on the west side of the existing building, and will be approximately 30 feet by 60 feet. Rosendahl said the addition will not encroach on the native Illinois prairie land.
"We are currently working on final plans and hope to break ground this fall," Rosendahl said. "The resulting building will consolidate our two facilities and result in a more effective and efficient operation."
The addition will include offices, storage and meeting rooms, and will house the entire township staff.
Rosendahl said it has not yet been decided how the building on Warner will be repurposed.
