Salvation Army Donut Days 2015-

Friday May 29th & June 4th 3-5pm

& Saturday May 30th & June 5th 12noon-5pm

The idea for Donut Day began on the battlefields of France during World War I when Salvation Army workers served coffee and doughnuts to soldiers in the trenches. Rations were poor so the doughnut idea was conceived as a means of bringing the soldiers cheer. Doughnuts were not the reason Salvation Army workers were in the fighting zones of France. Those men and women were there primarily to give spiritual aid and comfort to the American soldier and his allies. They were there to be a link with home and family.

Though that world war has come and gone, Salvation Army workers continue to care for and comfort thousands of people each day who battle hunger around the world and here in the Chicagoland area. By supporting Donut Day, with a donation or through volunteering, you help The Salvation Army keep its food pantries, meals on wheels, senior citizen feeding programs and childcare nutrition programs alive and well. If you can give a few dollars or a few hours of your time, you will help provide 1.9 million meals to the hungry in Chicagoland. Money raised in our Lemont Community by our Lemont Community will benefit those in need in our Lemont Community!!!

Your involvement is crucial! You are the one that can help the hungry have a warm nutritious meal; all you have to do is be willing to give through a donation or by volunteering.

Thank you for your support! Please contact me if you can offer a slot of any amount time during one, two or any combination of those days.Fridays May 29 & June 5- 3-5 or 5-7Saturdays May 30 & June 6- 12noon-1:30pm; 1:30pm-3:30; 3:30-5pmWishing you peace & donuts!Terri O’Neill-Borders 630-257-2522 ex 13 email me at- terri-oneill@lemonttownship.org
