Lemont Township Selects New Township Administrator
Mario Mollo succeeds Glenn Pasiewicz, who is the new Facilities Director for the Township.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont Township announced that Mario Mollo has been selected for the role of Township Administrator, according to a news release from the Township.

Mollo retired from the Illinois State Police in 2022, and he worked at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office before the selection, a release states.

“In addition to a highly skilled and qualified candidate, we were looking for someone with a strong understanding of our community, and of local government management and its multifaceted dynamics,” Michael Shackel, Lemont Township Supervisor, said in a news release. “Mario brings a breadth of experience on similar issues and opportunities that confront Lemont Township. He has a proven track record in local government, and values active listening and respectful dialogue."
Mollo was appointed as a Lemont Township Trustee from 2020-2021. He was also a board member and Treasurer for Lemont Little League, and he assisted with the transition to the Lemont Baseball and Softball Club.

Mollo served on the Finance Committee and other committees for Lemont School District 113A, and he served as the first Athletic Director for Everest Academy in Lemont, according to the release. Mollo also served as a manager and coach for baseball, basketball, and soccer for the American Youth Soccer Organization, Everest Academy, First Church of the Nazarene, Lemont Little League, Lemont Baseball and Softball Club, and Lemont Park District.
"As a current Lemont Township resident, I believe that his familiarity with our community will help make for a smooth transition. Mario’s experience with community programs and responsible fiscal management will greatly benefit the Lemont Township community and provide strong and steady leadership for Township staff,” said Shackel.
Mollo graduated from Saint Ignatius College Prep in Chicago. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Criminal Justice from Saint Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota, where he currently serves as an Alumni Board Member.
Mollo earned his Master’s Degree of Public Administration from the University of Illinois system. Mollo also earned a Child Advocacy Studies Certification while at the University of Illinois, and he was selected for membership to the Pi Alpha Alpha Honors Society, according to a release.
“I am looking forward to serving Lemont Township and continuing to improve the quality of life for residents by developing partnerships, collaborations, and promoting the Township at the local, regional, and state levels,” Mollo said in a news release. “I will work alongside the elected officials and staff to continue providing the high-quality level of service that residents have come to expect from Lemont Township. I am excited to be working at Lemont Township and becoming an active member of the community.”
