Lemont Vehicle Stickers: Pricing, Info

LEMONT, IL — Many Lemont residents may have received their village vehicle sticker registration in the mail recently. The village has shared that for 2019, all vehicles registered to an address within the village of Lemont will continue to require a vehicle sticker. The current vehicle stickers will expire July 31. For passenger vehicles, the sticker is $60; for motorcycles, it is $50; and for senior passenger vehicles, it is $30.

According to the village, the intent of the village board during the recent home rule referendum and the sales rax referendum was to raise enough revenue to provide for core services and to fund infrastructure projects.

The village said if the November 2018 home rule referendum had passed, enough revenue could have been raised to eliminated the requirement of the vehicle sticker. Even with the sales tax referendum approved, there is still a funding gap and the vehicle stickers are needed to help fill this gap, the village said.

"We recognize the inconvenience and hardship that may exist with the vehicle sticker," the village said. "As a result, we will reassess the program annually in conjunction with the budget development process if elimination of the requirement is possible and/or reduction of the cost to procure a sticker is appropriate."

The village has also invested in new technology to help administer the vehicle sticker program. With this new technology, the village said letters will be mailed to residents reminding them of the requirement to purchase stickers for their vehicles based on records from the Illinois Secretary of State.

If the system included your vehicle in error, if you no longer possess a vehicle or if the vehicle is not registered to an address within Lemont’s corporate limits, please contact the Finance Department at (630) 257-1550 to have the vehicle removed from the database.
