Lemont Village Board Approves Capital Improvement Plan

Projects for fiscal year 2024 include a new I&M Canal ADA ramp at Lemont Street and pedestrian bridge east of Holmes Street.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Village Board approved its capital improvement plan for fiscal year 2024 at its meeting on Monday.

Projects in the capital improvement plan are categorized into utility infrastructure, qualify of life projects, economic sustainability and vibrancy projects, safety projects, and roadway infrastructure, according to Board documents.

The fiscal year 2024 runs from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024.

Village Administrator George Schafer said one of the bigger and more impactful projects for fiscal year 2024 includes the new I&M Canal south trail ADA ramp at Lemont Street, and the new pedestrian bridge east of Holmes Street.

"Those projects will begin construction this spring," Schafer said.

Other projects include for 2024 include:

  • Engineering for I&M Canal restoration, hydraulic study ($61,264)
  • Gateway and wayfinding signs ($40,000)
  • Engineering for Village-wide ADA planning study ($20,000)
  • Engineering for downtown railway safety improvements ($200,000)
  • Engineering for 131st Street and Derby Road pedestrian improvements ($100,000)
