Lemont Will Appeal Palos Park Annexation Ruling
Mayor Brian Reaves has announced that Lemont will appeal the March 23 ruling that upheld the annexation of 1,446 acres into Palos Park.

LEMONT, IL - Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves has announced that the village of Lemont will appeal the March 23 ruling that upheld the annexation of 1,446 acres into Palos Park.
"On behalf of the village board, after weighing our options, the village believes that the Circuit Court's ruling was done in error and the village is invoking its right to appeal that ruling," Reaves said.
Village of Lemont, Illinois v. Mid-Iron Club Incorporated, et al. concerns the annexation of Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, the Gleneagles Country Club, Mid-Iron Club and Ludwig Farm. These properties were previously in unincorporated Cook County, and the property owners chose to approach Palos Park, rather than Lemont, for annexation.

Patch previously reported Lemont's disappointment with the ruling, and how the judge's decision put the annexation request of residents of the Sun Hill subdivision into question. The village had filed a petition for the residents of Sun Hill, located south of McCarthy Road and west of Bell Road, because they wanted to be annexed into Lemont.
In March, the judge rebuffed Lemont's argument that Palos Park officials had waited too long to act on an annexation petition from Gleneagles, and ruled in favor of Palos Park.
