Lemont's Ali Lund Chosen for Illinois High School Volleyball All-star Match

The game will be played Saturday, Nov. 29.

Lemont High School senior Ali Lund has been chosen to play in SportsTownChicago.com’s 2014 Illinois Volleyball Senior Showcase on Saturday, November 29, at Wheaton College. A showcase match is scheduled for 3 p.m., and an all-star match is slated to follow at 5:30 p.m.

Lund will play for the “White Team” in the all-star match, which will feature 30 of the state’s top senior volleyball players. The event will include players from local schools such as Downers Grove North, Hinsdale Central, Joliet Catholic and 2014 IHSA Class 4A State Champion Benet Academy, among others. Lund’s team will be coached by De La Salle’s Anna Marassa.

Proceeds from the 2014 Illinois Volleyball Senior Showcase will benefit the American Cancer Society. For more information about the event, visit www.sportstownchicago.com/asg2014.

A 5’8” outside hitter, Lund recently finished up a three-year varsity career playing for head coach Chris Zogata. Over three seasons, she helped the Indians to three 20-win seasons and a composite record of 73-37. Lemont won South Suburban Conference-Blue Division crowns in both 2012 and 2013, and earned an IHSA Regional crown and an IHSA Sectional runner-up finish in 2012. The Indians went 34-5 in SSC play during her varsity career.

Lund posted 563 kills over three seasons, and ended her tenure as a .263 career hitter. She added 62 service aces, 114 digs and 98 blocks.

Lund capped her career by earning All-SSC and team co-MVP honors as a senior in 2014, as the Indians went 20-16 overall and 10-3 in SSC play. She led the team with a career-best 238 kills, and also posted career highs with 34 service aces and 42 blocks while hitting .264. Lund was tabbed with her team’s “Best Hitter” award, picked up all-tourney honors at Rich East, and was cited as a Suburban Life honorable mention all-area pick.
