Lemont's Jorie Dybcio Commits to Run Track and Cross Country at Trinity Christian

Dybico earned three varsity letters in cross country, and two more in track and field.

Lemont High School senior Jorie Dybcio has committed to being a member of both the cross country and track and field squads at Trinity Christian College beginning in Fall 2015.

Over her three years at Lemont, Dybcio has been a solid performer for Tim Plotke, who coaches both the girls’ cross country and girls’ track and field squads. After transferring to Lemont prior to her sophomore year, she has earned three varsity letters in cross country and two more in track and field. During her tenure, Lemont has won three South Suburban Conference-Blue Division crowns in cross country, and also captured the 2014 SSC Blue Girls’ Track and Field title. She twice has earned All-SSC honors in cross country, and has five SSC titles in track and field.

Dybcio’s personal best in the 3-mile distance in cross country is 18:57, which came at Plainfield Central’s First to the Finish Invitational in September 2014. Her best 1600 meter time in track is 5:29, which helped her to all-sectional honors at the IHSA Lockport Sectional in 2013. She has posted a personal best of 2:21 in the 800 meter run.

Dybcio most recently was part of the most successful girls’ cross country season in school history. The Indians not only captured the SSC Blue crown, but also won IHSA Regional and IHSA Sectional titles before finishing fourth at the 2014 IHSA Class 2A Girls’ Cross Country State Finals - the best finish in school history. Dybcio earned All-SSC accolades
by finishing fifth at the SSC meet. She also was one of the team’s top five runners at the IHSA Rosary Regional (24th individually), IHSA Wheaton Academy Sectional (23rd individually) and IHSA State Finals (124th individually).

Though she was injured much of the cross country season as a junior in 2013, she was an important contributor as a sophomore in 2012. She finished as the SSC runner-up individually while helping the Indians to the team title. She also posted a top-25 finish at the IHSA Wheaton Academy Regional to help Lemont advance to IHSA Sectional competition.

Dybcio has earned multiple SSC titles in each of her two varsity track and field seasons. As a sophomore in 2013,
she won the 1600 meter run (5:30) and was part of the school’s victorious 4 x 800 squad (10:12). In the Indians’ SSC Championship season in 2014, she won the 800 (2:27) and 1600 (5:37) meter runs, and again was part of the winning 4 x 800 relay team (10:39).

A high honor roll student. Dybcio will run for head coach Bob Brickman at Trinity Christian, an NAIA institution located in Palos Heights, Ill., and a member of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). Brickman has guided the Trinity Christian men’s and women’s cross country programs for more than a decade, and also serves as the Trolls’ men’s and women’s track and field coach. Dozens of Brickman’s student-athletes have qualified for NAIA Championship competition, and several have earned NAIA All-America status.
