Lemont's Scott Darling Traded to Carolina Hurricanes

Darling, who grew up in Lemont, was originally signed by the Blackhawks as a free agent in July 2014.

LEMONT, IL - Scott Darling, goaltender for the Chicago Blackhawks, was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on April 28 in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.

Darling, who grew up in Lemont, was originally signed by the Blackhawks as a free agent in July 2014.

According to a release from the Blackhawks, Darling compiled a 39-17-9 record with a career goals-against average of 2.37, a .923 save percentage and four shutouts in three seasons with the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks announced news of the trade on their Twitter, and thanked Darling for what he has done for the team.

"We could count on Scott in any situation as he was always reliable," said Executive Vice President/General Manager Stan Bowman in a release. "We appreciate his contributions to the Blackhawks organization -- including a Stanley Cup Championship team -- and we wish him well as he continues his career in Carolina."

The Hurricanes have exclusive negotiating rights with Darling until July 1, when he once again becomes a free agent.
