Lemontster Days 2019: Fall Fest, Haunted Canal Hay Ride

Lemontster Days 2019 offers the Halloween Hoedown, Fall Fest, Scarecrow Fest, movie nights and more.

LEMONT, IL — There will be plenty to do in Lemont this fall as Lemontster Days returns for 2019. Lemontster Days offers a variety of events, hosted by several different organizations in town, throughout October for all ages. There are a few events that span the month of October, including:

"Trick of Treat" for the Lemont Food Pantries

You can fill bags with needed items that will fill the shelves of Lemont Food Pantries. You can drop off donations Oct. 1 to Oct. 31 at the Lemont Township Office, 1115 Warner Ave.

Trail of Scarecrows competition

Oct. 5 to Oct. 21. You can vote for your favorite scarecrow on the trail at the Lemont Township Center. Winners will then be displayed at the Halloween Hoedown at Safety Village in downtown Lemont.

Home Decorating Contest "Lemontster Manor"

The Lemont Park District will host the home decorating contest to search for the best-decorated home in Lemont. Registration must be completed by Oct. 28 at the park district, and winners will be announced on Oct. 31.

There are also several more events planned, including a movie night, a blood drive, a haunted hay ride and more. Here's the schedule for all the events of Lemontster Days:

8th Annual Autumn Craft Beer Tasting

Sept. 26 at Gelsosomo's Pizzeria & Pub, 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lemont, Homer Glen. Award-winning home brewer Scott Pointon will show different seasonal beer styles. $30 per person, proceeds benefit Lemont community. 21 and over.

Lemont Park District's Fall Fest

Oct. 5 at Lemont Park District Centennial Park, 3 to 6 p.m. The free event will have live entertainment, a kids zone, hayrides, a kiddie straw maze and more.

Lemont Area Historical Society Haunted History Bus Tour

Oct. 6, starts at Lemont Historical Society Museum, 306 Lemont St., at 1 p.m. The historical society will share spooky stories of Lemont's history and will make some stops along the tour. 21 and over.

LAHS Scary Silent Movie Night

Oct. 11, Lemont Historical Society Museum, 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Free admission, enjoy some classic silent horror films.

Witches Walk

Oct. 12 in downtown Lemont, 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. Get dressed up and join for drinks and treats on the annual walk in downtown Lemont. There will also be a Witches Ball afterwards at the Lemont VFW. Register at the Chamber of Commerce's website.

History of St. James At Sag Bridge Cemetery

Oct. 15 at Lemont Historical Society Museum, 7 p.m. Presented by Deacon John Wilkinson.

Lemont Park District's Halloween Blood Drive

Oct. 19, Centennial Park campus, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lemont Township Scarecrow Fest

Oct. 20, Lemont Township Community Center, 2 to 5 p.m. The free event will have a hayride, bonfire and more.

LAHS "Hocus Pocus" Movie Night

Oct. 25, Lemont Historical Society Museum, 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Watch the Halloween cult classic "Hocus Pocus." The movie is for all ages, and you can also enjoy some treats and an appearance from a movie character. $5 for adults, $2 for children.

Haunted Canal Hay Ride

Oct. 25-26, starts at Safety Village, 55 Stephen St. Begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 25 and 5 p.m. Oct. 26. The less scary version of the ride will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26. Last ride loads at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. Fundraiser benefiting Hope & Friendship Foundation and District 113A Educational Foundation.

Halloween Hoedown

Oct. 26, 1 to 4 p.m. in downtown Lemont. The village of Lemont will hold this free event which will feature a costume contest and parade, trick-or-treating at some downtown businesses, a bounce house and more.

Trick-or-Treat at the Library

Oct. 31, Lemont Public Library, 4 to 6 p.m. Stop by the library to trick-or-treat and meet some famous literary character.
