Lemontster Days Preview: Witches Walk, Movies, Halloween Hoedown

LEMONT, IL — Although kids are just heading back to school, autumn isn't too far away. With the start of fall, that means that Lemont's popular event series, Lemontster Days, is approaching.

Even though we're still a few weeks out, here's a look at what Lemontster Days 2022 has to offer:

• Sept. 24, Welcome Scarecrow Fest, 2 to 5 p.m., at Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St.
• Sept. 24-Oct. 18, Trail of Scarecrows Competition by the Lemont Junior Woman's Club and Lemont Township, held at the Heritage Trail at the Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St.
• Sept. 24, Monster and Me Mile Run, 2 p.m. at Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St.
• Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, "Spirits of the Limestone," at 6:30 p.m., Lemont Historical Society, 306 Lemont St.
• Oct. 1, Halloween Blood Drive, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lemont Park District, 16028 127th St.
• Oct. 1, Fire District Open House, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Fire Station No. 1, 15900 New Ave.
• Oct. 1, The Witch's Brew: Reading and Brew Making, 1 to 3 p.m., at Lemont Public Library, 50 E. Wend St.
• Oct. 7, Drive-in movie: "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," gates open at 6 p.m., at Lemont Park District, 16028 127th St., in the south quad parking lot
• Oct. 8, Witches Walk, 5:30 to 11:30 p.m., downtown Lemont
• Oct. 15, Trick or Treat Trail (ages 2-12), 10 a.m. to noon, at Lemont Park District, 16028 127th St.
• Oct. 21, "Hocus Pocus" movie night, 7 p.m., at Lemont Historical Society museum, 306 Lemont St.
• Oct. 22, Halloween Hoedown, 1 to 3 p.m., in downtown Lemont
• Oct. 24, Craft Night of the Living Dead, 4 p.m., at Lemont Library, 50 E. Wend St.
• Oct. 30, Trick-or-Treat, all day, at the Lemont Library, 50 E. Wend St.

There are also several events taking place all month long, including Zombie Apocalypse every weekend at The Forge: Lemont Quarries, a Halloween reading challenge at the library, and a food drive by the Lemont Hope and Friendship Foundation.
