"Students who choose to walk out of school as part of the National School Walkout will be encouraged to do so in a quiet, respectful manner," the school said. "They will be supervised by school personnel during the walkout, and will be asked to congregate in a safe area before returning to the building at the conclusion of the 17-minute walkout."

Students who choose not to participate in the walkout will remain in class with their teachers. No teachers will leave their classrooms unattended.

LHS students who want to participate will walk out of class and stand outside in the football stands for 17 minutes to honor each of the victims of the Florida school shooting. According to student organizers, if a student does not want to walk out but still wants to participate in some way, he/she can participate in 17 acts of kindness where, throughout the week, the student should make it his or her goal to successfully complete 17 random acts of kindness in the school.
