LHS Announces Late Start For Wednesday
With an ice storm warning in effect, many schools are canceling activities.

LEMONT, IL — Due to the predicted ice storm hitting the area starting Tuesday evening, Lemont High School has announced a late start at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6. The school has also canceled all after school activities after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Everest Academy in Lemont will also open late at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
The NWS said a wintry mix with freezing rain is expected, with snow and sleet accumulations at less than one inch and ice accumulations of one tenth to four-tenths of an inch expected, "with the highest ice amounts along and northwest of a line from Streator to Morris to Joliet to downtown Chicago."

"Delaying the start of school until 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 6 should allow additional time for students and staff to arrive safely on campus," the school said.
Activities canceled on Tuesday include: all girls' basketball games; the boys' swimming meet; the SAT 1600 class; and the Speech Team's Regional Showcase.
