LHS Band, Choir Hold Holiday Concerts
The concerts, which will be held on Dec. 1 and Dec. 8 will each begin at 7 p.m.
LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School’s music department is ready to get everyone in the holiday spirit with a pair of concerts over the next two weeks. The concerts, which will be held on Dec. 1 and Dec. 8 will feature the school’s band and choir. Both concerts will begin at 7 p.m., with the Performing Arts Center doors opening for general seating at 6:30 p.m., according to a release from the school.
The first concert on Dec. 1 will feature members of the band and choir in numerous small ensembles to put on a “Prism” concert. The Dec. 8 event will feature both the bands and choir in a more traditional concert, with the ensembles performing full group numbers, according to the school.
The Lemont High School band is under the direction of Matt Doherty, while Dave Nommensen leads the choir. The band and choral programs will perform a range of selections over the two events.

The “Prism” show on Dec. 1 will offer both music written for the genre, as well as holiday favorites. It will feature an array of small student-led ensembles, including percussion, vocal, brass, woodwind, and mixed instrument duets, trios, quartets, quintets and more. The audience will be treated to a continuous stream of performance, and special lighting effects will add to the event, according to the school.
The combined Concert Band will perform several selections at the Dec. 8 concert, including “Highlights from Frozen” arranged by Sean O’Loughlin, “Legacy Fanfare” by Jack Wilds, “O Holy Night” by Adolphe Adam, “Sleep May Safely Graze” by J.S. Bach, “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson, and “Ukrainian Bell Carol” arranged by Richard Saucedo, according to the school.

At the Dec. 8 concert, the Choir will also perform “Barter” by Frank DeWald, “Fly Me To The Moon” by Bart Howard, “I Hope You Dance” arranged by Ed Lojeski, “Jingle Bells (sort of)” by James Pierpont, “Joy” by Cristian Larios, and “Cool Yule” by Steve Allen.
Admission to each concert is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring a canned good or paper good, which will in turn be donated to local food pantries, including Lemont High School’s own food pantry. All items are welcome, but specific items needed include hygiene products (no toothpaste) and home care products, the school said.
