LHS Band Selected To Participate In Chicago Symphony Center Event

Lemont High School's band program has been chosen to play in an event at one of Chicago's most historic venues.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School’s band program has been chosen to play in an event at one of Chicago’s most historic venues. Led by conductors Matt Doherty and Dave Nommensen, Lemont will be featured at the “Carthage in Chicago: Holiday Concert” which will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, at Orchestra Hall at Chicago Symphony Center.

LHS said Carthage College’s Music Department has a new tradition in that its music ensembles perform their programs from the acclaimed “Carthage Christmas Festival” at Chicago Symphony Center on the evening following their performances on their campus. Outstanding high school music programs are invited to join in the performance. Lemont was selected to participate in part because of its alumni taking part in the music program at Carthage.

According to LHS, Lemont’s selections at the event will include Robert Sheldon’s “A Longford Legend,” “Ukranian Bell Carol” arranged by Richard Saucedo, Eric Whitacre’s “The Seal Lullaby” and David Maslanka’s “Illumination.”
