LHS Celebrates Being Named Blue Ribbon School
LHS held a formal ceremony to celebrate its selection as an "Exemplary High Performing School" through the 2017 National Blue Ribbon program
LEMONT, IL — On Monday, April 23, Lemont High School held a formal ceremony to celebrate its selection as an "Exemplary High Performing School" through the 2017 National Blue Ribbon School program. The school was named a Blue Ribbon school in September 2017.
The school said in addition to current and former faculty, staff, administrators and Board of Education members, there were also some distinguished guests from the community present at the event. Congressman Dan Lipinski addressed the crowd at the ceremony, and past District 210 superintendents were also at the event. Dr. Ticknor (2012-present), Dr. Sandy Doebert (2002-12), Dr. Tom Madden (1990-2002), Dr. John Murphy (1985-90) and Dr. Donald Weber (1979-85) attended the event and received an "Exemplary" T-shirt.
Patch reported in September when LHS was first given the honor of a Blue Ribbon school. Less than 1/2 of one percent of the nation's schools have been honored as 2017 National Blue Ribbon Schools. Lemont High School is one of 25 schools from Illinois – and one of just two Illinois public high schools – to earn the honor this year. Those two high schools, Lemont High School and Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, are the first traditional public high schools in Illinois to receive National Blue Ribbon School accolades since 2010, LHS said.
