LHS, District 113A Combine For Mega Band Concert

Lemont High School and District 113A will join forces for the annual "Mega Band" concert on Sunday, April 29.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School and District 113A will join forces for the annual “Mega Band” concert on Sunday, April 29. The event begins at 3 p.m. in Lemont High School’s Gymnasium. All community members are invited to attend this free musical event.

The school said Lemont High School’s Concert Band and Honors Symphonic Band both will perform under the direction of Matt Doherty, while Old Quarry Middle School’s Concert and Symphonic Bands and River Valley Elementary School’s fourth grade and fifth grade bands all are directed by Frank Alongi.

River Valley’s fourth Grade band will perform selections from “Essential Elements 2000,” while the fifth Grade band will perform “The Lost City.” Old Quarry’s Concert Band will perform “Newcastle March,” while its Symphonic Band will tackle “Swamp Rabbit Stomp.”

Lemont High School’s Concert Band will perform “Mt. Everest,” and its Honors Symphonic Band will play “Aurora Awakes.”

All of the bands will combine for James Swearingen’s “Heroes and Glory.”

Admission for the event is a canned or paper good; all collected items will be donated to a local food pantry.

Lemont High School is located at 800 Porter Street in Lemont. Attendees are encouraged to park in the Performing Arts Center Lot, Parking Garage or the West Lot, all of which are accessible off of Julia Street.
