LHS Girls' Soccer Takes Home Fourth Place In The State

This past weekend, the Indians took home fourth place in the girls' soccer state finals.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School's girls' soccer team took home fourth place in the state this past weekend during the IHSA Class 2A Girls' Soccer State Finals. The Indians beat Hinsdale South, 1-0, in the Super-Sectional on May 30 to earn a trip to the state finals, according to a release.

The first semifinal match pitted the Indians against Wheaton Academy, where LHS goalie Michelle Jerantowski withstood a 12-round shootout, before Wheaton won the match. According to a release, this game was the third time that Lemont has met with Wheaton during the state finals.

The Indians then matched up against Burlington Central for the third-place game at the state finals. The Indians lost to Burlington 3-1, and took home fourth place in the state.

According to a release, this was Lemont's fifth state finals appearance since 2009. Among the accomplishments of the girls' team this season include a 24-match unbeaten streak, LHS said.

The Indians have finished fourth in their last two state finals appearances in 2013 and 2015, according to a release.

Triad High School took home first place for Class 2A, with Wheaton Academy claiming second.
