LHS Honors Gorski Bus Company After 70 Years Of Service
Board member Beverly Marzec said that Lemont High School's longest relationship has been with the bus company.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School recently recognized the Theo J. Gorski & Son with a pride in excellence award for its more than 70 year relationship with the district. Gorski & Son, a long-time bus company in Lemont, ceased operations this past summer.
Board member Beverly Marzec said during a recent reception honoring the company that Lemont High School's longest relationship has been with Gorski & Son.
"And while there are many bus companies that could have provided service to Lemont High School students, there is a special connection made possible by the Gorski Bus Company because of its long-time presence in the Lemont community," Marzec said.

Lemont High School and the Gorski company have worked together since the 1940s, Marzec said. The company was founded by Theodore Gorski, and his son, Robert, took over in later years.
"And for more than 20 years, Karen Gorski Etzkorn ensured the company carried on the tradition of excellence established by her father and grandfather," Marzec said.

The board also praised the company for the way it handled challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"However, through the many changes in attendance models, and the need to chart where students sit for contract tracing purposes, Gorski Bus Company was willing to do whatever was necessary for students to be present for in-person instruction as much as possible," Marzec said.
The high school started its own department of transportation at the start of this school year, and many employees from the bus company now work for the school.
"The newly established department of transportation is off to a great start, and that's in large part from the establishment of Gorski and its employees," LHS Superintendent Dr. Mary Ticknor said.
